Based At: Olmec-UK limited, Unit 4, Falkland Way, Barton-Upon-Humber
Job Purpose
To work within our mechanical team to design, develop, assemble and test high quality, fully automated machine vision inspections. These systems will be used to carry out quality control inspections on our customer’s production lines or form stand-alone inspection modules. The position requires a hands-on approach to engineering and continuous professional development.
The role offers exposure to a wide variety of industries including Pharmaceutical & Healthcare, Automotive and Food & beverage.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Assisting the design and proposal of potential solutions – developing new machinery into production lines, modifying equipment, designing new products or redesigning existing ones
Use SolidWorks to produce detailed designs, generate parts lists and specifications
· Consider various factors, including use of the product, its environment, materials, the economics of production, safety, legal requirements, quality, production requirements, cost and ease of maintenance
· Liaise with third parties such as component manufacturers, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers to solve complex problems and deliver projects within agreed deadlines and budgets
As necessary, assist with the construction and testing of systems prior to them being dispatched to the customer
Gather documentation for manual compilation and training purposes
Involvement in all project lifecycle activities, including fault finding, feasibility testing and customer demonstrations, the preparation of design specifications and reports, design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and snagging
Attend training and relevant conferences and develop professional knowledge
Suggest ways of working within the mechanical functions to help the business develop and grow
Form co-operative and respectful working relationships with colleagues
KEY SKILLS
Innovative and passionate approach to engineering
A strong “hands-on” mindset
Keen interest in machinery process and design within the automation or packaging environment
Computer literate with working knowledge of the following:-
CAD packages preferably 3D such as SolidWorks, CAM, Microsoft Office
Good problem solving ability with attention to detail essential
“Can do” attitude
Minimum of a 2:1 Mechanical Engineering or similar
Good documentation skills
Excellent people skills and clear communicator with the ability to form strong relationships
Ability to plan and work to tight deadlines
The following skills are not essential but would be advantageous:
Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations, GAMP and 21CFR11
Understanding of manufacturing techniques and plant control systems i.e. PLC based systems
An understanding and appreciation of vision systems would be an advantage but not essential
Graduate Software Engineer
Based At: Olmec-UK limited, Unit 4, Falkland Way, Barton-Upon-Humber
Job Purpose
To support the Software Team in the development and delivery of new and modified software products, from research and design through to testing, implementation, training and support in order to deliver robust vision inspection and automation systems to Olmec customers.
The role offers exposure to a wide variety of industries including Pharmaceutical & Healthcare, Automotive and Food & beverage.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Develop software for new and existing desktop and server applications
Research software frameworks and libraries for new and existing Olmec systems
Perform bug fixing and feature enhancement in new and existing applications
Participate in code reviews
Generate software code documentation
Produce automated software testing systems
Perform manual testing on the machinery
Produce high quality, maintainable code in line with quality standards
Work alongside design and installation personnel within Olmec to ensure comprehensive robust solutions
Attend training and relevant conferences and develop professional knowledge
Suggest ways of working within the software functions to help the business develop and grow
Form co-operative and respectful working relationships with colleagues
KEY SKILLS
Minimum of a 2:1 Computer Science or similar degree, or equivalent commercial experience
Experience with a recent version of C#
Excellent people skills, with the ability to form strong relationships with colleagues and customers
Innovative and passionate approach to engineering and software
Ability to plan and prioritise work to tight deadlines
Ability to work to another’s design
Numerical and analytical skills

Graduate Vision Engineer

Job Purpose
To work within our project team to develop high quality, fully automated machine vision inspections for our customers. The position requires involvement from sample testing and concept proposal through to commissioning and customer training.
The role offers exposure to a wide variety of industries including Pharmaceutical & Healthcare, Automotive and Food & beverage.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Responsible for assisting in the design, configuration and installation of machine vision system solutions for manufacturing customers
Involved in all project lifecycle activities, including fault finding, feasibility testing and customer demonstrations, the preparation of design specifications and reports, software programming, project execution, testing, installation and commissioning
Provide technical support and consultancy to users internally and externally, and assisting the Project Engineers in ensuring successful completion of projects on time, to budget and to the relevant level of quality
Liaise with manufacturers of components to establish and deliver integrated solutions with software and hardware
Provide support to customers remotely using VPN connections to their sites
Attend training and relevant conferences and develop professional knowledge
Suggest ways of working within the vision functions to help the business develop and grow
Form co-operative and respectful working relationships with colleagues
KEY SKILLS

Some Visual Basic or other programming skills e.g. C#, java, .NET, Matlab, Halcon
Good fault finding skills

Minimum of a 2:1 Electrical / Electronics and Software, Computer Science, Mechatronics or similar

Excellent people skills and clear communicator with the ability to form strong customer relationships
Ability to plan and work to tight deadlines
The following skills are not essential but would be advantageous:
Experience of programming/configuring current machine vision systems
Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations, GAMP and 21CFR11
Understanding of manufacturing techniques and plant control systems i.e. PLC based systems
Some knowledge of basic PLC programming
An understanding and appreciation of vision systems would be an advantage but not essential
The successful candidate will be a fast learner possibly with experience in machine vision systems or automated systems with the drive and ability to adapt to other technologies quickly and efficiently.
Ideally the successful candidate would be confident with VB6 or VB.Net and preferably have an understanding of interfacing vision system equipment with PLCs and PCs, although this is not essential.
Graduate Automation Engineer

These systems will be used to carry out quality control inspections on our customers’ production lines or form stand-alone inspection modules. The position requires involvement from sample testing and concept proposal through to commissioning and customer training.
The role offers exposure to a wide variety of industries including Pharmaceutical & Healthcare, Automotive and Food & beverage.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Assisting with the design and creation of schematic drawings for the electrical control systems
Writing and implementing PLC, HMI and drive system software programs covering a wide range of machine functions
Involved in all project lifecycle activities, including fault finding, feasibility testing and customer demonstrations, the preparation of design specifications and reports, programming, project execution, testing, installation and commissioning
Provide both onsite and remote support to existing and new customers systems
Consider various factors, including use of the product, its environment, materials, the economics of production, safety, legal requirements, quality, production requirements, cost and ease of maintenance
Liaise with third parties such as component manufacturers, sub-contractors, suppliers and customers to solve complex problems and deliver projects within agreed deadlines and budgets
Gather documentation for manual compilation and training purposes
Generate and reviewing technical documentation
Site visits to customers to include; initial enquiry discussions and solution proposals, project installation supervision, commissioning and snagging lists
Attend training and relevant conferences and develop professional knowledge
Suggest ways of working within the controls functions to help the business develop and grow

KEY SKILLS
