As an electrical engineer at Olmec you will take your system designs from paper through to fully living and breathing automated solutions – immense job satisfaction goes with the territory.
Job Purpose
To take a leading role within the electrical team developing high quality, fully automated machinery incorporating the latest machine vision and automation technologies. The position requires involvement from project inception through to completion, ensuring conformance with customer specification, regulatory compliance and good engineering practice.
The role offers exposure to a wide variety of industries including Pharmaceutical & Healthcare, Automotive and Food & beverage.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Design and create complete electrical design solution from the initial site survey through to site installation and commissioning
Ownership of electrical drawing system including revision history and documentation lifecycle throughout each project
Use EPLAN to design high quality electrical plans for control panels incorporating complex drives, PLCs, inspection cameras, IO racks, motion and safety system
Manage parts database within Eplan and create new macros and ways of working to help the business develop and grow
Contribute to component selection, timely creation of BOMs and ordering to deliver projects within agreed deadlines and budgets
Generate and review electrical documentation for testing, manual compilation and training purposes
Support rigorous testing of electrical solution with involvement in FAT, SAT, validation and project documentation
Responsible for post installation customer support handover of electrical system
Provide both onsite and remote support to existing and new customer systems
Work with Project Management to ensure projects are carried out in accordance with good manufacturing practice safety guidelines and current legislation, and meet the design requirements
Maintain project records, attend regular team meetings to provide progress reports and strategize on next steps
Attend training and relevant conferences and develop professional knowledge
Provide mentoring and training to junior members of the team
Form co-operative and respectful working relationships with colleagues
KEY SKILLS
· Minimum HNC or degree qualification in electrical engineering plus evidence of relevant industrial experience
· Experience of high speed, complex and brand new systems
· Experience of FMCG/ Pharmaceutical environment and relevant standards for electrical systems design
· Advanced user and owner of electrical design packages (Ideally EPLAN)
Clear communicator with the ability to form strong relationships with colleagues
Able to develop trust and motivate others
An ability to act as a role model and lead by example
Rigorous documentation skills
Ability to plan and work to tight deadlines

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Design, development and testing of innovative inspection and product handling machines including design of potential solutions, developing new machinery, modifying existing equipment, completing feasibility studies
Involved in all project lifecycle activities, including fault finding, feasibility testing and customer demonstrations, the preparation of design specifications and reports, programming, project execution, testing, installation and commissioning
Develop and build prototypes and run tests to measure their level of function
Write and implement PLC, HMI and drive system software programs covering a wide range of machine functions
Provide both onsite and remote support to existing and new customer systems
Work with Project Management to ensure projects are carried out in accordance with good manufacturing practice safety guidelines and current legislation, and meet timescales and design requirements
Maintain project records, attend regular team meetings to provide progress reports and strategize on next steps
Liaise with third parties such as component manufacturers, sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers to solve complex problems and deliver projects within agreed deadlines and budgets
Generate and review electrical documentation for testing, manual compilation and training purposes
Attend training and relevant conferences and develop professional knowledge
Provide mentoring and training to junior members of the team
Suggest ways of working within the controls function to help the business develop and grow
Form co-operative and respectful working relationships with colleagues
KEY SKILLS
Minimum degree qualification in engineering plus evidence of relevant industrial experience (pharma, med device, automotive)
Proven in the automation field with experience of high speed, complex and brand-new systems
Innovative and investigative approach to engineering coupled with the confidence to challenge conventional thinking
High level of experience in PLC programming & HMI programming (Beckhof, Rockwell, Omron, Allen Bradley)
Clear communicator with the ability to form strong relationships with colleagues
Able to develop trust and motivate others
An ability to act as a role model and lead by example

Ability to plan and work to tight deadlines

Project Manager
Based At: Olmec-UK limited, Unit 4, Falkland Way, Barton-Upon-Humber
Job Purpose
To coordinate and manage a team of engineering and manufacturing resources in order to deliver multiple Olmec projects to customers in line with key milestones and budgets.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
• Lead and coordinate business projects in consultation with Operations Director
• Represent Olmec to customers in a professional and positive manner throughout the project lifecycle and beyond
• Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to secure resources and ensure the delivery of projects remains on schedule and to budget
• Motivate peers through effective methods of communication and accountability and clear and concise direction and support
• Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure project requirements are captured and any changes to specification are handled in a commercially viable way
• Provide accurate reports on financial status of live projects and complete post mortems at the end of projects
• Identify ways that Olmec can better serve customers and staff through learning from experience and instigating changes/processes to realise improved outcomes
• Ensure project documentation/ validation packages are complete, comprehensive and prepared in a timely manner
• Work with relevant departments to continuously develop processes to deliver better products and solutions in a timely and profitable manner
KEY SKILLS
• Strong organizational skills and disciplined approach to management
• Excellent people skills and clear communicator with the ability to form strong customer and peer relationships
• Commercial acumen, understands impact to business
• Facilitation skills, problem solving, ability to ‘unblock’ potential issues
• Technically competent, able to ask the right questions
• Minimum degree qualification in relevant discipline e.g. engineering
• Ability to empower individuals through competence with decision making and KPIs
